Fire & Safety Building Progress Update

The new Fire & Safety Building is nearing completion.  This project has been highly successful thanks to our team of Five Bugles Design and Miron Construction.  The physical building will be completed and operational in the next 3-4 weeks.

Unfortunately, our recent weather conditions have prevented our contractors from completing the site work at the new station this fall.  The remaining final work includes parking lot paving, site restoration, and landscaping.  Our weather has been extremely wet throughout the fall (record-breaking!), coupled with unseasonably frigid temperatures and higher than average snow volumes.  We presently have over 12”+/- of frost in the ground.  Because of this, final site work will occur in the spring of 2020.  Holding off from doing this work will ensure we are delivered a high quality, long-lasting product.  Furthermore, the contractors are guaranteeing their pricing, so holding off this work will not cost the Town anymore.

What does this mean for using the station during the winter?  A soft move-in will likely occur throughout the winter.  This decision will be left up to the Fire & EMS Department.  A grand opening/ribbon cutting will be planned after the site is fully completed in spring 2020.

This fall weather has been a struggle to complete our project.  However, the Town is appreciative of the public's patience and understanding of these conditions.  We look forward to opening our facility and celebrating the community's investment with the general public.
