The Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department's Feature Friday

Each Friday, the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department features something new for residents and visitors to learn more about. This week we want to tell you about the Schueler Woods!

Schueler Woods is located at Lions Park and was named after the family that previously owned the land. A gravel based trail winds through the woods and connects to the rest of the trail system within the park. The parks total trail length is 1 mile and the Schueler Woods portion makes up for about 0.3 miles of it. A beautiful stone learning circle is located just inside the south entrance and several benches are located along the trail. A portion of the trail was even designed to accommodate the visually impaired so that everyone can enjoy!

During the summer and spring months, many enjoy listening to the birds and observing the critters that live there while walking through the woods. In the winter, it’s a great place for some snowshoeing or brisk winter walk. But our favorite time of the year to visit the Schueler Woods is in the fall when the leaves are changing colors and falling from the trees!
