The Sanitary District has contracted with Speedy Clean Drain and Sewer to complete their annual sewer cleaning and televising. Cleaning began on Wednesday, March 11th and will likely continue through the end of April.
What is televising?
Televising is a process done to help maintain the sewer system and plan for future maintenance. The Town's Sanitary District currently has a 7 year cycle set up for televising. This means that they will be cleaning the sewer system in your area every 7 years to ensure the quality of our sewer infrastructure.
How does it work?
First, they clean the sewer pipes using a jetter to get rid of grease and grit. The jetter works kind of like a big pressure washer that they shoot through the pipes. Then, they televise. To do this, they drive a camera through the system, kind of like a remote control car, and record the inside of the sewer mains. The videos that they record are then reviewed to locate any inflow and infiltration (I&I) into our system. (This is also where we find all those other things we wish you didn't flush too!)
Please note
In the affected areas, your toilet may "burp" during this cleaning of the pipes. We advise that you keep your toilet lids down to avoid any back splash of water. The areas affected in this years cleaning are shown on the map. For any additional concerns, please contact our Public Works Office at (920)757-7276
