Garbage and recycling carts need to be out no later than 5:00AM the day of collection. Drivers will not go back to collect if this deadline is missed. Lids on all carts need to be closed with cart handle facing the house. New home constructions will need to call the Public Works Department to have garbage and recycling services set up. If you have extra garbage bags that do not fit in your grab age cart, there are $1 overflow sticker you can purchase at the Public Works Office during regular business hours. Two overflow bags will be allowed without stickers and will be picked up the first scheduled pickup after the following holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Please remember that recycling is MANDATORY in Wisconsin, not optional, and there is no overflow. If you have overflow recycling please consider the following:
- Break down and flatten all boxes
- Large cardboard boxes should be cut to 2 ft X 2ft or smaller.
- Save your overflow for your next collection.
- Ask a neighbor if they have room in their cart.

Garbage Collection Day Map (Interactive)
Large Item PickupLarge or Bulk Items are collected every other week (please call for dates). To participate in this collection you will need to purchase a sticker from the Public Works Office. The deadline for large items will be 12:00 P.M. on the Monday before the pickup day. When you purchase your sticker, we will record your address and notify Harter's of your item. Please note that each item to be picked up does need its own sticker.
$25 Stickers include: couch, table, dresser, bed frame, mattress, box spring, bike, push mower (liquids removed), toilet, sink, treadmill, microwave, washer, dryer, compactor, stove, dishwasher, humidifier, water heater, water conditioner, shower stall, grill, carpet (cut into maximum of 4ft sections then rolled).
$50 Stickers include: Refrigerator, dehumidifier, freezer, air conditioner, large sectional couches, electronics
The alternative is to haul any of your items to the Outagamie County landfill located at 1919 Holland Road, Appleton (one mile east of Hwy 441; off of Northland Avenue). If you have questions about hauling items there or fees, please contact them at 920-832-5277.
Household Hazardous Waste InformationCollections are held twice a month May-October at a designated location on the Outagamie County Recycling & Solid Waste property. All participants MUST call to an appointment by calling (920) 832-5277 or online at RecycleMoreOutagamie.org. The program is provided for households only; business material will not be accepted. Keep individual materials in their original containers and DO NOT MIX!
Acceptable Items: Solvents, Pesticides, Herbicides (including DDT and Chlordane), Rodent baits, Lead/Oil based paints, Dioxin Materials (such as Silver and 2,4,5-T), Household and Vehicle batteries, Gasoline, Waste oil and Anti-freeze.
Unacceptable Items: Explosives and Radioactive Materials (such as smoke detectors), Containers over 5 Gal in Size, trailer sized loads and Latex Paint (latex is not hazardous, it can be dried and then thrown away with the can cover removed).
