Weekly Law Enforcement Report - 4th Week of May 2019

Below is a brief summary of some of the higher priority calls in Greenville.

Suspicious person complaints

Deputies have been receiving numerous complaints about a suspicious black male acting strangely throughout the week. His name is Louis and lives in Greenville. Deputy Richards has handled several complaints regarding him. He has not been threatening or violent. When he is asked to leave a business he does so without causing a scene. Louis also does not have money to pay for items. Deputy Richards would like to find a way to alert business owners in the area about him. The County's Crisis team is aware of him and are coming up with possible solutions for the future.

Parking complaints 

We have received numerous complaints about parking in the lot south of the baseball fields at the end of Meadow Park Dr. Deputy Richards has made contact with the owners who were out of state in IL. They have recently moved to the area with their elderly parents. A black Corvette and white Cadillac have been removed. A camper is still in the parking lot currently. Deputy Richards advised that by June 2nd the camper must be removed that parking lot is not long term parking. If parking issues continue vehicles will be towed at owners expense. 　

Disturbance 　

A Deputy was dispatched for disturbance between family members. One of the family members left before Deputies arrived. Deputies on scene spoke with the family present on what took place. Another Deputy was able to make a traffic stop on the suspect that had left the scene in her vehicle. After interviews on all parties it was concluded that a crime had not been committed. The suspect was spoken to about her actions and how future occurrences could result in citations or be arrested.

Firework Displays Require Permit

We are now getting to the time of year when individuals want to light, launch and display fireworks.

Did you know under state law, fireworks are illegal to possess and use without a valid permit!

Fireworks may only be used within the Town of Greenville by individuals who have been properly issued a permit from the Town (see Town Code Chapter 150). You cannot purchase a permit to possess or display fireworks from a vendor.  Permit application forms are available from the Town's website.

Under Wisconsin State Statutes, certain novelties are not considered “fireworks” and anyone can use or possess them. No permit is required.  Those objects include “sparklers” that don’t exceed 36 inches in length, smoke bombs, confetti sprayers, “novelty devices that spin or move on the ground,” and a few other objects, such as “caps” and “snaps” with minimal amounts of explosive mixture.

Citations up to $1,000 may be issued for individuals who violate the law!

Drug tip in the area from an anonymous person 

A Deputy received a tip about possible drug activity in the area from an anonymous person. The Deputy has been surveillance on the suspected home(s) for short term traffic in an attempt to make traffic stops. The Deputy has also been contacting and working with the MEG unit regarding this issue. Surveillance and follow up will continue.

Greenville Middle School

A Deputy was requested to respond to the Greenville Middle School for a juvenile requesting nude pictures from other students. The Deputy spoke with the school and determined that nothing criminal had happened. Deputy spoke with parents of the child regarding solutions for this behavior and other options.

Dog Complaint

A Deputy was dispatched for a dog at large. Deputy spoke with homeowners regarding the issue. The suspect is a ongoing problem not keeping his dog in his yard. The Deputy issued another citation to the suspect. The Deputy also spoke with the reporting parties regarding the court process and how it takes time. Reporting parties understood it takes time through the court process.  The reporting individuals were not happy about not removing the dog due to the ongoing issue. However, current municipal Code does not allow for the removal of the animal for this type of issue.  The Deputy explained that they could seek removal through civil court action or contact the Town Board about their concerns.

Town Offices Closed on Memorial Day - May 27, 2019

Just a reminder that Town Offices and the Yard Waste Site will be closed on Monday for the Memorial Day holiday.

Garbage Collection Delayed due to Holiday

All garbage collection will be pushed back one day next week due to the Memorial Day holiday. Garbage collection for the week of May 27, 2019 is as follows:

• Wednesday collection will occur on Thursday
• Thursday collection will occur on Friday
• Friday collection will occur on Saturday

In addition to regular collection next week, residents are also allowed two extra garbage bags at no extra charge. Please contact our Public Works Department at (920)757-7276 with questions.
