Each Friday, The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department features something new for residents and visitors to learn more about. This week, we're continuing our "Meet the Staff" series and we want to introduce you to Jake!
Jake has been working with Greenville’s Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department for 7 years. He grew up in Onalaska and went to school at UW-La Crosse where he earned his degree in Recreation Management. Jake worked in landscaping before joining us here at the Village where landscaping remains one of his favorite parts of the job.
We asked Jake to tell us a little more about himself and here’s what he said:
Q: What’s the most exciting part of your job?
A: Seeing my boss’s face every morning or when there are donuts
Q: What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position?
A: People think it must be nice to always work outside but it’s not always nice outside. I’m also not actually Shawn’s assistant
Q: If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would you choose and why?
A: The PW director, Brian, because I want to know what it feels like to look that good in flannel for a day
Q: Which historical figure would you most like to meet?
A: FDR – Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Q: What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
A: Fire starter, a pot for water and a machete
Q: If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: A cheeseburger and french fries
