Greenville Project Update

The projects detailed below are large scale projects happening in addition to our regular operations. Their completion may be scheduled to be done by town staff or the services may have been contracted with a third party. Please remember that all of the information and time lines are weather dependent and subject to change at any time.

Streets

• Greenwood Road Urbanization (STH 15 - Parkview Dr)
• An existing conditions survey is currently being performed. Following this, a conceptual design will be drafted.
• The project is planned to be constructed in 2021.

• South Creek Drive (School Rd-Molly Marie Ct) 
• Week of 7/6/20: Roadway to be pulverized. Culvert and ditch work to follow.
• Week of 7/13/20: Culvert and ditch work to continue.

• Spring Road Pulverize and Pave (North Rd-Julius Dr)
• Week of 6/29/20: Finish restoration along roadway and ditches.
• Week of 7/6/20: Finish restoration along roadway and ditches, as needed.

Water & Sewer 

• Annual Hydrant Exercising and Flushing 
• Began the week May 11 and is still in progress.  
• It is normal to notice a slight discoloration or cloudiness to your water while staff is working on the hydrants in your area. To help clear up the color, you can run the cold water tap located closest to your water meter until the water runs clear.

Parks, Recreation & Forestry

• Greenville Sports and Splash Park
• Rettler Corporation has been contracted to design and engineer a new entrance road to the property. This new entrance road is consistent with the Master Plan for the park and will provide a safer access to the park from Hwy 96. Construction is planned to be completed in 2020.
• The Field of Dreams Referendum Steering Committee brought a formal recommendation to the Town Board on May 18, 2020 to hold an advisory referendum with the August 11, 2020 election regarding the development of Phase 1 of the Field of Dreams Property, now dubbed the Greenville Sports and Splash Park. The Town Board approved the resolution to hold the advisory referendum. • Street Tree Planting
• Irrigation bags have been installed on all newly planted street trees. If you have a tree with an installed irrigation bag, please fill the bag once per week during periods of inadequate rainfall to keep the tree properly watered.

The Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department's Feature Friday

Each Friday, the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department features something new for residents and visitors to learn more about. This week, we want to tell you about our skate park.

The skate park is located at the northwest end of Community Park and is open from 7am until dusk. It was designed in 2013 by local skaters and later built in 2014. When the skate park was built, it was built with the intention that Community Park would be a temporary home and it would eventually move to the Lions Park. Although there is no date currently set for this move, it is still the future plan. 

Equipment at the skate park includes a quarter pipe, bank ramp, kinked grind rail, two grind boxes and central ramp with additional grind rail. This facility is not supervised but, we do encourage all skaters to use protective wear while skating at the park.

Yard Waste Site Holiday Hours

In observation of Independence Day, the Town of Greenville Yard Waste Site will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4.

The site will reopen on Monday, July 7 under our current hours: 

• Mondays - 6:30 a.m to 7:00 p.m.
• Tuesdays - 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Wednesdays - 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Thursdays - 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Fridays - 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Saturdays - 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The following rules will apply during these modified hours:

• Users are expected to follow social distance guidelines. Users may be expected to remain in their vehicles until their turn.
• Permit Stickers will not be sold in-person at the site.
• Yardwaste Site Permits, Bulk Item Stickers, and Extra Garbage Bag Stickers can be purchased through USPS using the following form: Purchasing Form. For specific questions about yard waste please contact our Public Works office at (920) 757-7276.
• All other yard waste site rules still apply.

Greenville Said What??? Don't Miss the Sub Area Plan Virtual Open House!

Don’t forget to attend Greenville’s Sub Area Plan virtual open house starting June 29, 2020 through July 3, 2020. Visit https://hkgi.mysocialpinpoint.com/greenville  to join the conversation. It will feature information through videos, slide shows and documents regarding the Heritage District, Urban Core and Gateways. There will be an overview of the 2040 Comprehensive Plan, a summary of current public engagement, an overview of our economic market, a review of issues and opportunities and most important the concepts and ideas generated so far based on public input.

If you would like to attend in person, staff will have the Town Hall open to assist with  interacting with the virtual material on Tuesday June 30th between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. with social distancing measures in place. The Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department's Feature Friday

Each Friday, the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department features something new for residents and visitors to learn more about. This week, we want to tell you about the playground at Jennerjohn Park.

The playground at Jennerjohn Park is the biggest, and probably most popular, park playground here in Greenville. There are three different playground areas to choose from. A sand area is located furthest north and is about 1,800 square feet in size. It includes a digger and a metal fire truck for “driving” and climbing.

The sand area and fire truck are originals to the playground but, in 2005 a community build replaced one single playground with the two that are currently there. One of the playground areas is designed for children ages 2-5 and is approximately 3000 square feet in size. It includes equipment to slide, climb, ride, and swing. The other is designed for ages 5-12 and offers much of the same play opportunities but on a higher skill level. That area is approximately 5000 square feet in size.

Other activities to enjoy while playing at the park include a ball diamond, open play space, tennis courts, the Heritage Fountain and part of the trail system. A covered pavilion offers picnic tables, shade and restrooms. You’ll even find activities here in the winter months when we have our sledding hill, ice rink and ski trial!
