The Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department's Feature Friday

Each Friday, The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department features something new for residents and visitors to learn more about. This week, we want to tell you about another one of our rental pavilions!

Community Park is most well-known for its ball diamonds, but did you know that it’s also home to the largest open air pavilion rentals offered in Greenville? With its close proximity to the playground and capacity of 200, it has quickly become one of our more desirable rentals for larger gatherings. The Community Park pavilion has roll down awning sides to protect renters from any inclement weather, plenty of picnic tables, garbage and recycling receptacles, and a large indoor kitchen. In the kitchen, renters will find two large sinks, a serving island with overhead outlets, refrigerator, two access doors, and three serving windows.

Renters will also find casual ball fields, a tennis court, basketball court, an abundance of parking, and recreational trail access within the park. Road Closure Notice

Beginning Monday April 18th, Mayflower Drive (Neubert Rd - Rawley Point Dr) will be closed to thru traffic for a water main construction project. The roadway will only be accessible to residents who live within the project limits. The project is expected to be completed in June 2022.

Spring Free Tire Drop Off Event

The Outagamie County Recycling and Solid Waste's spring free tire collection event begins on Monday, April 18. This means that the Village of Greenville will begin accepting tires at our Yard Waste Site facility later this week! Tires will be accepted at our site from Wednesday, April 13 – Thursday, April 21, 2022.

Collection is limited to Greenville Residents only, with a limit of 4 tires per household. Tires will not be accepted at the Yard Waste Site during any other time, however tires can be dropped off at the Outagamie County Landfill for a fee. Tires from businesses are not accepted. Only tires with a rim size of 18”or less will be accepted at no charge. For all tires with a rim size of 19" or larger in size or quantities of over 4, the resident will be charged $8.00 per tire at the Public Works Office; or $325.00 per ton if taken directly to the Outagamie County Landfill/Recycling Center (1419 Holland Rd, Appleton).

Each Friday, The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department features something new for residents and visitors to learn more about. With temperatures expected to rise this weekend, were thinking about summer! This week, we want to tell you about one of our rental pavilions.

The North Pavilion is one of three pavilions available to rent at the Greenville Lions Park and one of most popular rentals overall. It has a capacity of 100 and is located right next to the playground. This covered shelter has so much to offer! Amenities include 10 picnic tables, corn hole game boards and bag, roll down side awnings, garbage and recycling cans, and an indoor kitchen. The kitchen facilities include stand up refrigerator with freezer top, sink, ample counter space and electrical outlets, and a large serving window.

The Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department's Feature Friday

Each Friday, The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department features something new for residents and visitors to learn more about. The Park Department has recently decided to hire its own Engineer and this week, we are pleased to announce Brian Rickert, P.E. as our newest employee and last feature of the series.

Brian has worked for the Village of Greenville for four years. You may recognize him from his previous role with the Village as Director of Public works. While he did enjoy that position, we decided that Parks and Rec just needed him more. Brian grew up in Fond Du Lac and went to UW Platteville for Engineering. Before coming to work for us, he worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

We asked Brian to tell us a little more about himself and here’s what he said:

Q: What’s the most exciting part of your job?
A: Getting to walk through the Parks Shop every day

Q: What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of?
A: Sharing my fashion sense with my coworkers. They have really thrived in trying new trends I’ve set for them.

Q: What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
A: I would become a Fireman

Q: What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
A: Jake, Shawn and John, I couldn’t make it without them!

Q: What’s your favorite TV show—the one you’re always watching on repeat?
A: America's Next Top Model, Season 2

Q: If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Spaghetti

Did we forget to say Happy April Fools?! Luckily for Public Works, they get to keep their talented director.
